Mehrgon Holiday in Khatlon

Sada, Navruz and Mehrgon holidays are a logical continuation of each other and have an unbreakable connection with the nature of Tajikistan, and the civilized tajik nation has been celebrating them since ancient times with their customs and specialties.

Especially in the new stage of the tajik statehood, the time of the country’s independence, with the direct initiative of the country’s President Honorable Emomali Rahmon, these ancestral holidays have been revived and are celebrated throughout the country and abroad every year.

Mehrgon, which with its specialties is related to the period of harvesting the hard-earned harvest of a farmer, is welcomed by the hard-working residents of Khatlon region, especially farmers, women artisans and youth, following good traditions.

On this blessed holiday, baskets full of agricultural products, including vegetables, fruits and other types of products testify to the abundance and good results of the hard work of farmers.

According to historical sources, Mehrgon holiday is considered to be a symbol of friendship and the result of a year’s activity of farmers, supply and stock of products for the cold period of the year. On this day, farmers, women and artisans actively participate by presenting samples of their handiwork, which are considered representative of each people and nation and are needed in daily life.
